Catherine Chambers, illustrated by Caroline Mockford
This contemporary fable of how the African and Indian elephant first found their homelands also shows children that it is important to be loved and cherished for one's own unique characteristics.
Catherine Chambers completed a degree in Swahili and African History at the University of London, and became an editor of educational books for Africa and the Caribbean (Evans Brothers). She has now written over 40 educational books for various publishers. Caroline Mockford gained a degree in fine art from Norwich School of Art, before completing a teacher-training course at Goldsmith's College, London. She went on to work as an art teacher and as a pre-school teacher.
