Happy Together: New York & The Other World

A record of loving and, above all, creative expressions by New Yorkers from almost every cultural background in cemeteries in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island, Happy Together is a selection of photographs of 144 decorated graves, some of them appearing several times in different manifestations. They usually have a short life: some are cleared away by cemetery authorities after a certain period, others are rearranged or replaced altogether as relatives and friends of the dead mark the next festive occasion. Some, though, are left until they succumb to the New York weather.
