Old Delhi, New York: Personal Views
C.S.H. Jhabvala
C.S.H Jhabvala applies his skills as an architect to creating charming detailed hand drawings of buildings in the two cities he inhabits: New York and Old Delhi. The views in the book are entirely personal and reflect the consistencies despite the rapid change that both cities are experiencing in its built environment. The beautiful illustrations along with Jhabvala's interesting observations about the buildings and neighbourhoods included in the book make it a remarkable keepsake.
C.S.H. Jhabvala was for many years known in Delhi as a distinguised practising architect and the dean of the School of Architecture. Since his retirement, he divides his time between the two cities he knows best, Delhi and New York, recording their architecture and ambience in masterly pencil drawing and watercolours. His first book, Delhi: Stones and Streets, consisted of pencil drawings. This book shows Delhi in black and white and in colour; and being published for the first time is his work on New York, also in pencil and watercolour.
