S .H.Raza : Mandalas
Text by Olivier Germain Thomas (English translation by Muthuswamy Varadarajan & Padma Natarajan)
Art Alive Gallery has collaborated with French publisher Albin Michel, Paris to bring out an English version of the French publication Mandalas. The book traces the artistic journey of S. H. Raza’s Mandalas and juxtaposes his body of work to references from the ancient Indian texts and correlated to the western thought and literature to explain universal parallels of the concept.
A connoisseur of Asian culture, Olivier Germain-Thomas is the author of more than fifteen stories, novels and essays, in which he shares his passion for the Orient. Born in Brives in 1943, founder in 1973 of the Christian monthly L'Appel, the travel writer is also director of the Chemins d'éternité collection at Pygmalion editions and producer of radio and television programs. In 2006, he received the Henri Gal Literature Prize from the Académie Française for his entire body of work. Benarès-Kyôto was awarded the Renaudot Prize for best essay in 2007 and the Grand Prix Thyde Monnier. His latest work, Manger le vent à Borobudur, was published in 2013 and explores the still too little-known shores of Indonesia from Java to Bali
