Boy Who Grew Flowers, The
Jen Wojtowicz, illustrated by Steve Adams

Quiet Rink always sits at the back of the classroom, away from the other children who have heard strange rumors about his family and prefer to keep their distance. But when a kind new girl joins his class, Rink's life begins to change. Inspired by the experiences of her brother, who is on the autism spectrum, Jen Wojtowicz's heartwarming tale encourages children to empathize with and reach out to others.
Jennifer Wojtowicz is an artist who also happens to write. She has had many odd jobs - from working on a cranberry bog to making and selling hats. She currently teaches artists who also happen to have disabilities. All of her life experiences have stimulated her as an artist, teacher and writer. She was inspired to write this story because of her brother, who has autism. Steve Adams currently lives in Montreal where he shares his passion of illustration and graphic design as a college teacher. Steve is an award-winning illustrator who has studied graphic design in Canada and Europe. This is his first project with Barefoot Books
