A follow-up to Stack the Cats, Balance the Birds is about balance and relative size. When birds spot a tree and decide to land on its branches, the readers can help them find the perfect balance. Like Stack the Cats, Balance the Birds introduces key early math skills for toddlers.

Susie Ghahremani is an award-winning illustrator and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). In addition to illustrating for diverse commercial clients from Target to The Washington Post, Susie designs and develops a whimsically illustrated stationery and gift brand Boygirlparty(R) consisting of more than 300 products, popular everywhere from independent boutiques and galleries to retailers such as ModCloth, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom. Susie has been the recipient of awards and recognition by American Illustration, the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles, and Alt*Pick, and has been profiled in several publications including The New York Times. Susie is a member and featured illustrator of the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and a former board member of The Illustration Conference (ICON). Susie's first picture book, What Will Hatch? (written by Jennifer Ward, Bloomsbury) was named a Bank Street Best Book of the Year. The hardcover edition of Stack the Cats was published by Abrams Appleseed in May 2017. Balance the Birds releases in Fall 2018. When not painting tiny paintings, illustrating children's books, designing stationery and gifts, teaching at RISD, exhibiting her work internationally, shipping orders, or connecting with the illustration community, Susie lives in sunny San Diego with her husband and zillions of pets.
