A young boy from a large family, selling milk for a livelihood, set his eyes on the sky and became a pilot in the Indian Air Force. But destiny had other plans in store for him. His empathy with the teeming millions in rural, underdeveloped India, turned his footsteps towards the world of politics.Sincerity, faith and determination saw him make a phenomenal rise from a constituency representative to a national leader. And though on June 11, 2000, Fate intervened, snatching him away from those who loved him, his memories and ideals will live on their hearts forever.
Born in Western Uttar Pradesh and educated in Delhi, Rama Pilot married Rajesh Pilot while she was in college, pursuing a master’s degree. She was a member of the Youth Congress and was nominated by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as an executive member of All India Congress Committee (in B.C. Cell). A former member of parliament from Dausa, she represented the constituency after her husband’s death in June 2000.
