Ranthambhore : Fifty Iconic Years (Volume 1 & 2)
Fifty Iconic Years (Volume 1 & 2)
Valmik Thapar & Kairav Engineer
Ranthambhore is more than a tiger reserve – it is a living landscape shaped by time, memory, and the enduring presence of the wild. This landmark two-volume collector’s edition brings together 50 iconic years of rare photographs and remarkable encounters from one of the world’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries.
Tracing Ranthambhore’s transformation from an era when tigers were seldom seen to its emergence as a global symbol of conservation success, the volumes offer an intimate and immersive journey into the forest. Alongside iconic images of tigers, it captures leopards, bears, birds, and the rich ecological tapestry of the region, revealing moments of drama, tenderness, and survival.
Blending history, wildlife, and personal experience, the volumes draw on the work of over 125 photographers – naturalists, professionals, and long-time observers of the forest – whose images span generations, from early film photography to contemporary digital work. Together, they create a rare visual archive that reflects both the evolution of the landscape and the changing practice of wildlife photography itself.
Lavishly produced and deeply evocative, this two-volume set is a timeless record of a forest that continues to inspire awe and wonder.
