Contemporary House India

Contemporary House India offers unparalleled insights and explores India’s residential architecture in the context of the country’s varied landscapes, climates, and historical influences.

The book provides a gorgeous overview of modern residential architecture in India and features over twenty beautiful private houses built by various leading and upcoming architects, including Architecture Brio, Matharoo Associates, Abraham John Architects, Khosla Associates, the Pritzker Prize-winning B. V. Doshi, and more. The featured projects span across the country – from the western coasts of Goa and Maharashtra and the inland waters of the Western Ghats to inner-city shelters in Ahmedabad and the banks of the river Ganges in the north.

The book begins with an insightful introduction and is divided into four thematic chapters, each opening with a contextual introduction. Contemporary House India is stunningly illustrated with photographs by Edmund Sumner and includes architectural plans accompanied by interviews of architects.
